Please notice the reviews, they will say thanks for the 5 start but if you have an issue you won’t here anything! I’ve been trying to contact them after they got $2500.00 ADAY!!! I’ve texted, emailed called, no help., no return on their end! That was promised a year of consulting. But nothing!!! I’m sicken, I have a person needing help so bad before something bad happens!!! What a waste of money. Some employees are not heart felt or trained at all! You DONT tell an addict to pack your bags and leave!!! Shane should be fired!

This place is awful. This is the third treatment center my husband had been to in a short period of time. All seem to be managed by the same company. He left the first place AMA and corporate called nonstop to try to help him. They eventually convinced him to go to a second facility. He really enjoyed the second facility and that program seemed to be working for him but after detox they told him his insurance wouldn’t cover their program at which point they transferred him back to the first facility and again he left AMA. Corporate again called nonstop to encourage him to get back to treatment. Finally they convinced him to attend Great Lakes. I pretty quickly realized that this facility operated much differently then the other 2. It was extremely difficult to get a hold of staff when I called or get an update on him. The other 2 places were constantly communicating and everyone knew what was going on and who I was talking about. Because he struggled to stay in treatment I was concerned but none of the staff seemed to have any idea how he was doing including his case manager. When my husband called and said he wanted to leave Great Lakes I called his case manager to ask what was going on and he had no idea. It didn’t even seem like he met with him on a regular basis. My husband complained that this facility was terrible and nobody there cared about him. He did not say those same things about the other 2. He ended up leaving after about 2 weeks. Now, nobody called after he left there. I found that odd since they called almost immediately and checked in nonstop when he left the other 2 places. Not only would they call him they would call myself and other family members to try to help him as well. Again, nobody called. Not one phone call. He died the next day. I would never recommend this place to anyone struggling with addiction. There are better options. They do not care about their patients.

There is no way this place deserves a star yet alone a 5 star. I hope that someone will read this. After you graduate the program, if you have the insurance, you can get transferred to Battle Creek MI and work at the call center for minimum wage. At the call center you can say whatever you want including lies to get more money. I swear that they are also at the call center making sure they don't drop down to a 3 star or 2 star rating. They will also not allow ex law enforcement to be treated.. hmmm. I wonder why?? I pray that Dateline or some TV show goes undercover and shows what happens. I was suffering Alcohol withdrawal. All they gave me was a low dose of Librium. 25 mg for one day and then dropped the dose to nothing by day 4. I had a seizure and they said it was brought on by stress. Please do not send or recommend this institution from being operated. I lost out on 15,000.00 and they said that was half priced. The food was like a homeless shelter. There hot tub was outside and filthy water. Did I mention it was 10 degrees outside during the day. The only good thing about this place was the friendship I shared with the others who got screwed. Im wondering why others haven't posted as much. The bed was a bunk bed that was like a brick. It was a plastic board practically. Watch out for anything that sais Best this or Best that. its an easy way to get found on Google and a practical genius scam. Hope this helped

I attended Great Lakes Rehabilitation Center in 2012 for opiate addiction. It was called Best Drug Rehab at the time. I spoke at length with an intake representative about the facility, their approach to recovery, and what kind of activities they offered. I would say that I was deceived by the person I spoke with. Upon arriving at BDR I discovered that it was essentially a Scientology indoctrination center that preyed upon people who had been weakened by addiction. I spent my days doing “training routines” or TR’s. A series of pseudo scientific activities thought up by L Ron Hubbard. These included staring at other people for up to 4 hours at a time. Looking up the definitions of words such as “the” “is” and “it”. The only books available were those written by Mr. Hubbard and Alice in Wonder Land. I recently spoke via face book chat with an intake specialist about whether they are still affiliated with Scientology. I was told they are not, but this person refused to acknowledge that they once were. I would be extremely cautious about sending someone you love to this facility. Scientology is known to be deliberately deceptive towards outsiders. I would hope that GLR would openly denounce Scientology and tell people that they are no longer affiliated.
