Areas of Specialization
  • Co-Occurring Disorders
People with drug and alcohol addiction often have co-occurring disorders – mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Drinking and drug use may be an attempt to relieve the symptoms of mental health disorders. Bluff Plantation has psychiatrists on staff who assess, diagnose and treat dual disorders. Effectively treating mental health conditions improves well-being and brings the individual a greater sense of peace – necessary for sustained sobriety.
  • Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)
Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.
  • Medical Detoxification
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
  • Relapse Prevention
Whether sobriety is brand new or has lasted for many years, the risk of relapse remains a threat to recovery. What separates those who relapse from those who don’t? Using evidence-based treatments and therapies, Bluff Plantation teaches strategies and provides the support that has been shown to help men and women in recovery stay healthy and sober.
  • Equine Therapy
A form of animal therapy, equine therapy involves visiting, working with and sometimes riding horses as a way to create a metaphoric relationship that leads to life-altering insights.
  • Aftercare Support
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.
  • Nutrition and Physical Wellness
At Bluff Plantation, our goal is to make sure that all of our patients’ healthcare needs are addressed. This is crucial to maintaining long-term sobriety. When people feel healthy physically and mentally, they sleep better. They have the energy to exercise and to participate in activities that are good for the body, mind and soul. They can enjoy their time with family and friends. Each one adds another brick in a strong foundation for recovery.

This treatment center is nothing short than Life Changing. They go far beyond just treating your addiction. The staff really cares and helps you work through issues that have gone untreated for most of your life. I left there a new person and can not thank them enough.

This place is NOTHING as it claims to be. They lock you out of your own shared room ALL DAY. You are stuck in a large living room area ALL DAY. There is a communal tv and it’s god awful to fight over what to watch before curfew at 9:45pm. The place is filthy...carpets have obviously never been cleaned...same for the rooms. The food is mediocre at best. It’s a waste of time and $$ and they nickel and dime you into staying as long as possible. If you’re lucky you can a have 15 min phone call twice a week that you must sign up for (but only after a week or two of having absolutely no contact w family or friends before being able to do so). People run away at all hours. It’s poorly managed and run by addicts who constantly tell you about their horrible bouts w addiction (blah blah blah). Please do not go there. The only good part is the horses and the wonderful man who runs that program. If you want to exercise....GOOD LUCK! Torture!
