Rory C. Reid

Rory C. Reid, Ph.D., LCSW is considered one of a few international experts on hypersexual behavior with over 15 years of clinical and research experience. He has published more peer-reviewed scientific articles on this topic than anyone else in the world. He has also worked extensively with patients seeking help for gambling disorders and has a particular interest in developing empirically supported treatments for hypersexuality and problem gambling using mindfulness based applications. His work has been featured in press outlets such as the New York Times, TIME magazine, WebMD, Men’s Health, as well as TV specials aired on ABC, CBS, and Fox News. Dr. Reid holds a master’s degree in social work and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology with a dual emphasis in neuropsychology and marriage and family therapy. Dr. Reid currently holds a position as an Assistant Professor and Research Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA and is part of the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Reid has numerous affiliations or memberships including the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health, the International Neuropsychological Society, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the National Council on Problem Gambling, and the Society for Psychotherapy Research. In addition to these associations, he serves on several editorial boards for scientific journals such as Journal of Couple and Relationship Therapy, Journal of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity, Current Addiction Reports, Journal of Addictions, and Journal of Behavioral Addictions. Dr. Reid is also interested in further understanding the windows that neuroimaging can provide into behavioral disorders and illuminating the physiological effects of specific intermediations. Using neuroimaging techniques has the potential to better guide and focus treatments for hypersexuality, gambling disorders, and drug/alcohol addiction.
