More Info About Rehab in Florida

Inpatient vs Outpatient

Unsure about if inpatient or outpatient Florida treatment centers are right for you? The type of treatment your addiction requires can help you decide the best substance abuse treatment strategy. While patients live full-time at the facility, inpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers in Florida provide intensive drug and alcohol use treatment. This set up provides patients with the change to focus on their treatment and recovery without dealing with outside influences. Inpatient treatment is often recommended for those with severe addictions or addiction-related issues who need constant support, but it can be an effective form of treatment for many people.

Outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers in FL can vary based on the types of treatment and the intensity, so time committed per week as well as length of participation can differ. Outpatient rehab in Florida often uses some of the same treatment practices found in inpatient treatment, including detox, medication-assisted treatment, individual and group therapy, and support groups. Outpatient is often recommended for patients who have friends and family at home who can provide strong support structures, but it can be a beneficial treatment strategy for many people.

Florida inpatient rehab facilities offer different types of services. With inpatient treatment, patients receive around-the-clock care; individual and group therapy; participation in 12-step and non-12-step support groups; specialized treatment that focuses on drug or alcohol addiction rehab and may include detox; and, depending on the facility, programs that focus on specific groups, including pregnant women, veterans, and LGBT individuals. In addition to these services, certain Florida treatment centers may offer additional benefits, including aromatherapy, spa treatments, golf, private rooms, and gourmet food.

By the time he was 18, he was invited to try out for the USA National Team Development Program (Team USA). Shortly afterward, he walked away from Ice hockey and turned to drugs. Within that time, Christopher served as the Co-founder of a Jacksonville-based insurance franchise called We Insure Florida, which he had to step down from in order to return to rehab. As soon as he managed to get sober, Christopher decided to transform his challenging past into a present triumph through helping others who have gone through the same thing. Now four years sober, he is the proud Chief Executive Officer of Boca Recovery Center, a drug and alcohol treatment center. Utilizing his in-depth marketing expertise, he aims to encourage people battling with the disease of addiction to find a positive outlet in the form of drug and alcohol treatment.Additionally, Christopher is Certified National Master Interventionist (C.N.M.I.) and received his certification from the National Association of Drug & Alcohol Interventionists (N.A.D.A.I.). More Info

The Florida Drug Control Update published by the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy reports that about 8 percent of Florida residents say they used illicit drugs in the month prior to the survey.

They also reported that:

  • The number of deaths caused by drugs in Florida is higher than the national average.
  • The number of meth lab seizures has increased by 148 percent in two years across the state.
  • Marijuana is one of the most popular illicit drugs among Florida residents who seek treatment.

Florida is also one of the states with the highest rates of illegal prescription drug diversion and abuse in the country.

Popular Substances of Abuse in Florida
When Florida residents seek treatment for drug or alcohol dependence, they are asked to name their “drug of choice.” No matter how many substances have been abused across a lifetime, there is usually at least one that the patient particularly struggles with. In Florida, the most popular drugs of choice in order of popularity are:

  • Marijuana
  • Opiates other than heroin (prescription painkillers like OxyContin, Percocet, etc.)
  • Cocaine
  • Heroin
  • Stimulants
  • Tranquilizers
  • Sedatives

Marijuana was by far the most commonly abused drug among Florida drug rehab patients. Almost twice as many patients claimed marijuana as their drug of choice as patients who claimed opiate painkillers, the number two drug of choice, according to Florida Substance Abuse and Mental Health Issues At-A-Glance published by the Substance Abuse and Mental health treatment Administration (SAMHSA).

The Option of Out-of-State Treatment

Due to the state’s many ports, Florida is a top spot for incoming substances.

Drug trafficking is a constant problem and, as a result, residents have almost constant access to any amount of their drug of choice. For those who are attempting to live a sober life, this kind of temptation can be too much to bear. For that reason, many Floridians choose to enroll in drug addiction treatment programs and sober living outside of the state. Getting away from home gives them a chance to:

  • Physically remove themselves from access to old friends who use drugs and the drug dealers who supply them with their drug of choice
  • Put mental and emotional distance between themselves and stressful relationships and issues back home
  • Avoid dealing with stressful issues like bills and work or school problems
  • Work toward resolving legal issues
  • Work toward improving opportunities in work and career after treatment
